there is a popular 7 mile long sand spit that protects a shellfish-tidelands
refuge... the spit is located within the
Dungeness
National Wildlife Refuge ... public access is avail to the sand spit but
is limited in some areas to protect nesting birds and other wildlife.
The
Dungeness Crab is named after the town of Dungeness, which are both
located in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
While in the area visit the
Sequim-Dungeness Museum to learn about the
area's history.
