Located along the banks of the Sol Duc River, Forks is named for it's location astride both the Sol Duc River and Bogachiel River.

For the past decades, the economy of Forks has been largely driven by the Forestry/Lumber industry, the city is now trying to transition to a more Tourism related industry.

While in the area visit the Forks Timber Museum to learn about the area's history.
